Great question.  How can one truly answer that though without taking into account your personal lifestyle and cost of living.  While many things are cheaper in Brazil (such as real estate) certain luxuries that you may be used to are also more expensive.  Overall though Brazil is much less expensive then the United States in my opinion $2,000 USD per month is more than enough money to have a good life in Brazil.
